I'd say go give him your congratulations, but...I went to his cabin and he was long gone.  I can't blame him, he's got a life to be getting back to and it's been too long for him already.  So, if you had outstanding business with the guy, all I can do is apologize on his behalf that he won't be around to settle it.

He really did need someone that wasn't bitter at him, after me. [She's both glad that he's gone, and glad that he left under good circumstances.] How did you make him realize it?

Cheated a little. Emma Swan's ahead of him in Storybrooke's timeline - she knows that the curse gets broken and Grace starts looking for him. So I was able to give him a reality check about what he'd be going home to.

That would have helped quite a bit. He needed proof, I think. He disregarded everything else. Cheating or not, it might have been the only way.

What of the woman he was involved with? [Morgana seemed... easy to manipulate.] Did he say anything about her before he left?

Not much. She died around thirty years ago, by his count. All he really had left to remember her by was his own guilt for denying Grace a mom.
