[Sara's sitting on a beat up couch in her cabin. She looks tired and drawn - doesn't everyone? - but apart from some minor scrapes, unhurt.]
For what it's worth, my...I don't know if we've got a Barge word for it. The woman I replaced during port, in the camp under the city. She got some help with the communications technology in their base and got a message out to a ship. First outside contact in a couple of decades.
Turned out the human colonists have made some friends of their own since the shit hit the fan at that one colony. The kind of friends you bring to a fight against something like the Vanquish, you know? They'd assumed the human population was long gone, cordoned off the whole planet and left it, but now they know that's not true...
Help's on its way there, is what I'm saying. Don't know how much, or how long it'll take, the Admiral pulled me away before they got into the details. But it's better than thinking we got off a sinking ship. Thought some of you would want to know that.
[There's a pause, like she wants to say something more, then she decides she doesn't and reaches for the communicator.] That's all.
[Private to Barbara]
I know it wasn't me. I know it didn't have anything to do with me.
But I was one of them, for those four days, and I remember what it was like for them to feel like they'd been forgotten and then to have some hope. And none of them are here to say it, so....thanks. On their behalf.
